Microsoft Office Add-in and Plug-in

Modified on Sun, 10 Mar at 8:07 PM

Currently, we have three Actionstep products that work on Microsoft Office - the Microsoft Plugin, a Word Add-in and an Outlook Add-in. They have different functions in Word and Outlook.

Actionstep Plug-in

Works only on Windows (not Mac). This Plug-in is used to assign emails into Actionstep using Outlook and can also be used to edit documents from within Actionstep, using Word. This can be used on a shared mailbox in Outlook.
Once installed, the plug-in will work for all Office apps.

You can download and install the plug-in from here Microsoft Office for Windows

Please note, this is a local computer program and you may require an Administrator to install this on your computer. This can also be affected by anti-virus programs your organization may have installed on your system.

Plug-in for Outlook

The Plugin can be used to assign emails from any mailbox in your Outlook Application including shared mailboxes.

Actionstep Add-in for Outlook

Works on both Mac and Windows.
Works only on Office 365.
Needs to be added and authorized in Outlook via Get Addins
Download: Outlook Add-in for Office 365

This Add-in is used to assign emails from Outlook into Actionstep. It can only be connected to 1 mailbox and does not work on a shared mailbox. You can also use the Outlook Addin to quick create contacts, file notes, tasks and time entries. You can also use it to access email templates and add attachments from the matter to an email.

Actionstep Add-in for Word

This Add-in is a template builder in Word and is a separate integration to the Outlook Addin and Microsoft Plugin. The Word Addin is often confused for the Microsoft Plugin which can be used to edit documents in Word.

The Word Addin will appear as a panel on the right side of your document.

Here is our guide on using the Word Add-in.
