New Actionstep Look and Feel - Early Access

Modified on Fri, 10 Feb 2023 at 10:00 AM

In this article, we will discuss changes to the Actionstep UI, how the changes will be rolled out, and what you can do if you want to opt into the changes earlier than the release date or you want to opt out of the changes once they have been applied.

What is the new design?

This design refresh is updating the color and styles that are applied to Actionstep. You will see that some items such as the navigation bar at the top of the screen will now use up more of the width of your screen, giving you more room to take advantage of modern desktop screens. The colors are now closely aligned with our branding and comply with accessibility best practices (making some screens easier to read than before).

It is important to note that none of these visual changes will alter the functionality of Actionstep – everything is in the same place. The locations of fields and buttons will stay the same so while it will look more modern and refreshing, it will still be familiar and will not cause any disruptions to you and your colleagues.

Some examples of the old and new screens are below.

How will the changes be rolled out?

Before the end of the week starting 5 December 2022, we will switch on the new screen designs for all Actionstep users who have not previously been using it as part of the early adopter trial. There will be no steps required for a user to do this, it will automatically be applied the next time they login to Actionstep.

If your firm does not want to use the new screen designs, an admin user can still opt-out of using them. See How can I opt-out of the new screen designs? below.

How can I opt into the new screen designs earlier?

Any Actionstep admin can enable the new screen designs earlier than the intended release date by going to the General settings in admin and choosing to be part of our early adopters and selecting Global UI updates (Admin > General > Feature Preview > Early Adopter > Global UI Updates).

How can I opt-out of the new screen designs?

Once the changes have been applied to a system, an admin user can still opt-out of them for their firm. You can do this by going to General settings in admin and switching off the Global UI updates switch. (Admin > General > Feature Preview > Early Adopter > Global UI Updates).

Do note that the option to be able to opt-out will only be available for at least a month before being disabled. If you have any feedback about the new designs please pass this onto us through our support team so it can be considered before the screens become standard.
