Working with a Staging System

Modified on Tue, 30 Jul at 3:23 PM

Actionstep provides test systems or sandboxes called staging systems, which are copies of your "live" system at certain points in time. They are not updated at all, but can be used for testing. They contain your actual, current data so you can test your workflows.

While there is no fee for obtaining a staging system, please note that staging systems will occasionally be cleared and removed with no warning so there is no guarantee that it will always be available. However, you can request a new one at any time.

Administrators with authority can request staging systems.

NOTE: An administrator with authority is an admin-level system role with the ability to add new users.

To request a staging system:

A member of the Actionstep Support team will set this up and you will receive an email invitation like the one below. (Please check your junk email if you don't receive the invitation when you expect.)

The staging system is a different environment from your live system so you can't use the same sign-in credentials that you would normally use to sign in to your Actionstep system. Use the link in the invitation email and set up a new password.

When adding users to the staging system, you will see a list of the same users that have access to your live system. These users, however, do not actually have access until you invite them to this staging environment. Make sure to use a different timekeeper code as it must be unique.

TIPS:
• It's suggested that you bookmark this sign-in page you receive in your email with a unique name, like Actionstep-Testing so you can more easily keep track of your different environments.

• Be careful when working in both your live and test systems that you aren't inadvertently making changes that might affect your real data. When working in your test system, you will see the following banner:
