Matter View

Matter View offers a consolidated, chronological view of matter activities and documents enabling you to quickly locate specific items for the task at hand. Providing better visibility into the most recent developments within any matter in Actionstep. 

Matter View

All users will be see a new menu item in the Matter Screen labelled View. Click on this to see consolidated view of documents, emails (inbox and sent items), filenotes, phone calls and SMS. 

Matter View Filter

Users can select different filters in order to limit the view to documents, emails, etc or a combination. 

Click on a filter or multiple to limit results to items of that type, click on the filter again to remove it. 

Users can sort items by who has modified them and the dates on which they have been modified by clicking on the filter on the right hand side of the screen. 

Preview

Users have the ability to preview items selected on the right hand side of the matter view screen, they can also preview video/audio files. 

Actions

Users can perform various actions on items in the Matter View. If you right-click on an item you will see a menu of actions. The same menu can be accessed from the preview screen when that item is selected. The menu items will change depending on the type of item you have selected. 

Disabling the Matter View

This feature is under a feature flag which is automatically enabled, to disable this setting you will need to head to Admin > General Settings>  Feature Preview > Switch off Matter View > Save.

Once the Matter View functionality has been enabled, it will automatically applied to all system users. To change which system roles can access the Matter View refer to Permissions below.

Permissions

You can enable this menu for certain system roles by using permissions. It will be on by default for all system users when enabled. 

Go to Admin > Users and Permissions > Menu Permissions (right hand side of screen) > Action Details Menu and tick the box under Matter View to enable it for that system role. 

This enables you to exclude certain system roles from seeing and using the Matter View icon.

Scheduled for Development 

I can't sort the items by modified date by clicking on the column? 

This feature is scheduled for development. 

Future Development Requests

Is there a limit to an item that cannot be previewed? 

There is a current limit of 15MB for all items, we are looking to extend that to 100MB for videos and PDF's. 

I cannot view my file note or document tags?

Unfortunately you can't currently view any tags within this view. 

Can I set the Matter View page as my default matter landing page? 

You can set your own default matter landing pages in your profile (by clicking on your Username on the top right hand side of your Actionstep screen) and then selecting a page from the dropdown next to Landing pages > Go here first on a matter. Currently, the Matter View page is not shown as an option. We are looking to add this as an option. 

If I select multiple files I can't perform any actions? 

Correct, unfortunately we do not have the ability to allow  actions across multiple files at the same time. 

I can't drag and drop files into this view? 

No, you are unable to do this on the Matter View screen. You will have to go to the document tab to do this. 

I can't edit the document properties from the Matter View screen? 

No, you will need to go to the document tab to do this. 

Can I filter documents/emails by a certain type? 

No, unfortunately there are not currently any additional filters based on the type of filter used to allow additional filtering. 

Why can't I search files for specific text? 

A search function has not been released in this view. To search across matter documents you will need to go the document tab or search across all documents in Actionstep (through advanced search). 

Why can't I create a file note or email in this view? 

This is a view screen and there is no ability to create items from this screen.
