ASB is a New Zealand-based bank that has an online trust management tool to help you deal with the funds you hold in trust for clients. Actionstep has an integration with ASB to make it easier and faster for you to handle some basic tasks in Actionstep when you do your Trust banking with ASB.

Setting Up the ASB Integration (Admin)

Admin users can set up the ASB integration.

To do this:

  1. In Practice Management, go to Admin > Trust accounting. The Trust Accounts page appears.
  2. Expand the Bank accounts section if it's not already expanded.
  3. For the account you want to integrate, click the ellipses icon and choose Edit bank account.
The Edit Trust Bank Account page appears.
  4. In the Bank account section, click the Bank plug-in drop-down list and choose from the available options:
    • ASB - Transactional Current Account
    • ASB  - Professional Trust Investment Account
  5. Click Save to save your changes to this account.
  6. Repeat this process for any other trust bank accounts you have.

Bank Reconciliations with ASB

When you process a trust reconciliation in Actionstep, you can choose to upload an electronic statement. This option will provide on-screen directions on where to go in your ASB FastNet online banking to download the file to use for this reconciliation. Actionstep is automatically configured to accept this file format. Once you have completed this process once, each new bank reconciliation you complete will default to using an electronic statement upload.

Investment Account Details

Once integrated, each time you open your trust investment account for a matter, you will be prompted to enter the bank account name and bank details of the account that you created in the ASB Professional Trust online banking. This makes it easy to keep track of your accounts in Actionstep so you can see how they match up.

Receiving Interest

You can easily receipt interest into an investment account using a file exported from your ASB FastNet Online banking.

To do this:

  1. Go to Trust > Interest > Receive Interest (multi). The Receive Interest (Multi) page appears.
  2. Review and complete the on-screen instructions for importing the information.
  3.  Use the Import File option to upload the file (which is automatically configured to accept the correct format from ASB Bank).
  4. Click Save to process the upload.
