Working with Deposit Slips

Using Actionstep, you can create a deposit slip based on transactions that you have entered in Actionstep Accounting.

As you enter deposits and client payments into Actionstep, it will keep a list of any that are cash or check transactions.  You can then commit relevant transactions to a deposit slip and have the details of those transactions displayed in a form you can use as a deposit slip. Each bank account will have its own deposit slip function.

Creating a New Deposit Slip

You can create a new deposit slip.

To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Accounting > Banking. The Banking page appears.
  2. In the list, find the bank you want to make the deposit with.
  3. Click its ellipses icon and choose Deposit Slips.
    The Deposit Slips page appears.
  4. Click Create deposit slip. The Create Deposit Slip page appears.
  5. Click the Bank account drop-down list and choose the account you will deposit to.
  6. Review the Deposit date and make adjustments, if needed.
  7. In the list of transactions that have not been added to a previous deposit slip, select the transactions you want included in the deposit. You can click Select all to select all transactions at once.
  8. Provide any missing details about the deposit. For example, if you're depositing a check, provide the Originating Bank, Check Date, Check No., and Check Memo
  9. Click Save to finalize the deposit. You are returned to the Deposit Slips page where the deposit you just created is now listed.
  10. Click the PDF icon for the newly created deposit (in the PDF column of the list) to download and print the PDF.

Viewing, Printing, and Deleting Deposit Slips

At any time, you can view a list of your deposit slips and then choose to print or delete them.

To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Accounting > Banking. The Banking page appears.
  2. In the list, find the bank you want to make the deposit with.
  3. Click its ellipses icon and choose Deposit Slips.
    The Deposit Slips page appears.
  4. Complete any of the following tasks:
    • To view the details about the deposit, click the link for either the Bank Account Number or the Bank Account Name.
    • To print a deposit slip, click the PDF icon for the slip. Then use the printing options available in your PDF viewer to print it.
    • To delete a deposit slip, select the checkbox for the deposit and click Delete.
NOTE:  When you delete a deposit slip, any transactions in that deposit slip will be included in a new deposit slip.
NOTE:  Deposit slips are always enabled in Actionstep. They reflect the slips you have actually deposited with your bank, so if you don't intend to use them, you can simply lock them without printing them. Additionally, even if you don’t use deposit slips, the system still groups transactions under an open deposit slip, which you don’t need to close—just let it keep adding transactions, and it will sit in the background unless you choose to run it.
