Approving a Trust (or Client) Request

Modified on Fri, 21 Mar at 11:11 AM

NOTE:
In the UK, trust accounts are called client accounts. Throughout this article, any reference to a trust account also means a client account.

Trust requests can be enabled in all Actionstep systems except for Australian customers that fall under the Queensland or Uniform regulations. If you are interested in this functionality, contact Actionstep Support to learn more.

In this article:

As part of your trust accounting, you may be asked to approve a trust request. You may have received an email notifying you that a request is ready for review. The email includes details about the request, including the amount, the matter name/ID, and other useful information.

Reviewing and Approving a Trust Request

To approve a trust request:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Trust > Requests > Trust Request List. The Trust Request List page appears.
  2. Find the request you need to review and approve. You can use the Filter to help you find the request more quickly.
  3. Click the ID link for the request. The Invoice Request page appears.
  4. Optionally, click Edit Invoice Details to review or make changes to the request.
  5. In the gray banner along the top of the page, click one of the available options:
    • Approve: Choose this option to approve the request and ensure it continues through the rest of the trust request workflow.
    • Needs information: Click this option to route the request to another user so they can provide more details. (Make sure you assign that user in the Assignee field below the invoice details.)
  6. Click the Assignee field to assign the next step of the request process to a user in your system.

Once a request is approved, a Pay invoice option is added to the request.

NOTE:  The request page includes an option to Delete request. If you click this option, the request will be removed entirely (no record of the request will be available). You can also Reject a trust request. See Rejecting a Trust (or Client) Request for information.
