Matter Data Dump Report

Brief Description  

This report exports participant and matter data for all matters matching the criteria to a format readable in Excel.   




Use Cases 

This report is useful for determining if particular information is consistently being added to Actionstep. For example, you can use this report to determine if a particular custom data field is being used in the system. This report shows how much data is being added to the field. If there is a concern about deleting a field from Actionstep, prior to making that decision, run this report on that particular field to see if there is any data in it before deleting it from the system.   


This report (as opposed to the Data Export report) allows you to filter which parameters you want use when generating the report (e.g., by participant type, data collections, etc.).




Finding and Using the Report

  • In Actionstep, go to Reports > Matter Reports > Audit.

Available Filters

  • Matter Type: Choose the matter type you would like to retrieve data for. This report can only be run on one matter type at a time.   
  • Matter Status: Choose which matters are included in the report by status.    
  • Participant Types: Choose which participant types are included in the report.  
  • Participant Type(s) Custom Data: Choose which custom data you want included in the report.
  • Participant Data: Choose what participant data fields you want included in the report based on the Participant Types Custom Data option you selected. 
  • Data Collection(s): Choose which data collections you want included in the report.
  • Data Collection Field(s): Choose which data collection fields from the data collections you specified in the previous option you want included in the report.
  • Date Format: Choose how you want dates formatted in the generated report.
  • Condition Syntax Help: Click Add filter to set up a filter using the syntax help as an example. 
  • Include Deleted Matters: Select this option to included deleted matters in your report. 




Report Output

  • Action ID: Shows the matter ID to which the table row information is attributed.   
  • Action Name: Shows the matter name.   
  • Action Status: Shows the current status of the matter. Matter status is set in the matter properties or when moving to a step in the workflow.   
  • Additional columns: Any additional columns in the table show the data being reported for that option you selected in the report's filters.
