Matter Summary Report

Brief Description  

This report shows the most pertinent information for a specific matter, like basic information, file notes, and matter parties.   




Use Cases 

This is useful for quickly gleaning contact information, important notes, custom data values, and a list of actions performed on a matter.   




Finding and Using the Report

  • In Actionstep, go to Reports > Matter Reports > General.


Then, refer to these articles for help generating and saving reports for future use:




Available Filters

  • Matter: Choose which matter's information is displayed.   
  • File Notes: Select this option to include the matter's File Notes table in the report and then indicate its placement in the table. You can also sort the list of notes from Newest to Oldest or Oldest to Newest.   
    NOTE:  The File Notes option, as well as the others in this list, have an option to choose which order the resulting table will be displayed in the report: First, Second, Third, or Fourth.
  • Participants: Select this option to include the matter's Matter Contacts table in the report and then indicate its placement in the report. 
  • Chronology: Select this option to include the matter's Chronology table in the report and then indicate its placement in the report. 
  • Matter Data: Select this option to display custom data collections, fields, and values. Each data collection displays the fields and values in its own table.   



Report Output

NOTE:  Clicking links in the following tables takes you to the related reports. For example, clicking a participant name displays the Participant Details Report.
  • Matter Data section/table: Displays important information about the selected matter and the primary participant of that matter.  
  • File Notes section/table: The File Notes table displays file notes created by users for the selected matter.  
    NOTE:  The Note Time field is not necessarily the date the file note was created but the date selected for the file note.
  • Matter Contact section/table: Displays basic identifying information about the primary participant type, information to contact the party, and custom data associated with the participant.
  • Matter Chronology section/table: Displays a list of actions performed on a matter, sorted from oldest to newest.
  • Matter Data section/table: This table is displayed for each custom data collection associated with the selected matter. Each table contains the names of the data collections and fields, as well as the values of the fields in the matter.
