Updating Your Firm's Knowledge Base Landing Page

By default, the home / landing page of you firm's knowledge base includes some generic text and imagery, like the following: 

You can update this to match your firm's branding. You can do this either by editing the existing HTML for the page or creating your own custom landing page.


CAUTION:  This article does not explain HTML concepts. If you are unfamiliar with HTML coding, consider working with a web developer to design your home/landing page.



To customize your knowledge base landing page:

  1. Choose whether you want to modify the existing landing page or create your own landing page. 
    • If you want to modify the existing landing page, continue with step 2. 
    • If you want create your own landing page, create the HTML file, save it, and skip to step 7.
  2. In Actionstep, go to More > Knowledge Base > Contents. The user's view of your knowledge base is displayed.
  3. On the main part of the page, right-click and choose View Frame Source from the list of options.
  4. In the source editor, highlight and copy all of the HTML code. The code is copied to your clipboard.
  5. In an HTML editor, paste the code.
  6. Make your adjustments to the content of the page. When you're finished, save the content as an HTML file. (Note the name and location of the saved file.) 
  7. In Actionstep, go to More > Knowledge Base > Admin
  8. Select the root topic where you want to store the landing page, upload the HTML file you've saved, and name it something like Cover Page. (See Adding Documents to a Firm Knowledge Base for help.)
  9. Go to Admin > General Settings. The General Settings page appears.
  10. In the Knowledge Base section, click the Cover page drop-down list and choose the HTML file you want to use as your landing page.
  11. Click Save to save your changes.
