Editing Contact Information While Viewing a Matter

At times, you may need to update information about a contact associated with a matter. There are a few different ways you can do this, and which option you choose determines whether the actual contact record is updated or not.

Updating a Contact's Custom Data

The first option is to edit participant custom data. This will not update the contact record, it will only be for the matter in question.


To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, edit the matter. (See Editing a Matter for help.)
  2. Click the Home menu icon to view the matter overview page.
  3. In the Parties panel, hover over the name of the party you want to edit and select Edit Data.
    The Additional Data page appears.
  4. Make any changes you need and click Save when you are finished.





Update the Actual Contact Record Via the Matter


The second option for editing contact information is to edit the contact record via the matter. This opens the actual contact record where you can make your changes. 



To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, edit the matter. (See Editing a Matter for help.)
  2. Either on the matter's Home page or Parties page, click the name of the participant whose details you want to edit. The contact record is opened in the Contacts area of Actionstep.
  3. Click Edit. The Editing Contact page appears.
  4. Make any changes you need and click Save when you are finished.
