Adding a Discount to an Invoice

You can add a discount to an individual invoice or all invoices associated with a specific matter. 

Applying a Discount to All Invoices for a Matter

You can apply a discount to a matter. The discount will only be applied against fees, not expenses/disbursements.

To do this:

1. In Actionstep, view the matter you want to apply the discount to. (See Editing a Matter for help.)
2. Click the Billing menu icon. The Billing page appears.
3. Click the Matter billing options link on the left side of the page.The Matter Billing Options page appears.
4. In the Discount section, click the Discount type drop-down list and choose either Percentage or Fixed amount.
5. Enter the amount of the discount in the field that appears.
   
6. Click Save to save your changes. This discount will be applied to every invoice created within this matter.

You can view this discount when you create the invoice. 

Applying a Discount to a Specific Invoice

You can also apply a discount to just a single invoice. 

To do this:

1. In Actionstep, view the matter you want to apply the discount to. (See Editing a Matter for help.)
2. Click the Billing menu icon. The Billing page appears.
3. Click Invoice now or Bill is in draft. The Create / Edit Draft Bill window appears.
4. Click Add a discount.
   The Apply a Discount window appears.
5. Select whether the discount will be a % of fees or Fixed amount and then enter the required information.
   
6. Click Apply. The discount is applied to the invoice you and you are returned to the Create Bill window.
   
7. Click Save as Draft or Save + Approve. 

Reviewing Discounts on the Invoice

Depending on your invoice template, discounts should appear on the invoice that you send to your client.
