NOTE: Actionstep offers built-in Accounting to users on our Practice Pro + Accounting plan. This article covers the functionality only available with that option.

Banking is an important part of your Accounting. After all, it is where all your hard-earned money will come into the business and by the same measure, where you will see it leaving your business.

In this article, we will explain how to get to the Banking screen in Actionstep. We will explain what you can see there and how you can access further functions, like a list of transactions for the bank account, deposit slips, and bank reconciliations.

Getting to the Banking screen

It is simple to get to the Actionstep banking screen. Just look under Accounting at the top of your Actionstep.

Understanding the Banking screen

There isn't too much to this screen, it is an overview of your banking and acts as a gateway for you to access more information.

Each non-trust bank account and credit card that you have in the system will be displayed in the order that they appear in your general ledger.

Each will have the details of the bank in the top left, its current balance under that, and a graphical representation of the balances over the last three months.

You can hover your cursor over the graph to see the balance at any given date.

You can click on the name of the bank account to open the list of transactions for that bank account but you can also hover over the 'Options for this account' button /helpdesk/attachments/150002488182 that is in the top right of every bank account to see all the records for that bank account, including creating a new transaction for that account.

Once you navigate to one of the options for a bank account, you can use the down arrow in the title of the page to navigate to another option for that bank account. You can also use the links above the title to make your way back to the Banking screen.

Showing an electronic holding account

If you have an electronic holding bank account (used for electronic batches, a function available only in some regions) it will be hidden by default, but you can tick the box in the top right of the view to show it.
