NOTE:  In the UK, trust accounts are called client accounts. Throughout this article, any reference to a trust account also means a client account.

You can review your trust account settings by reviewing the Trust Admin page.

To access your trust settings:

  • In Actionstep, go to Admin > Trust accounting

A. Regional Trust Setting / Plug-in

This section shows which regional trust plug-in you are using for trust accounting. For more information, see Setting Up Trust (or Client) Accounting (Admin).

B. Matter Types

This section shows which of your firm's matter types have been enabled for trust accounting. You can click the ellipses icon next to a matter type name to review and change the configuration or remove the matter type from trust accounting. For more information, see Associating a Matter Type with a Trust Account (Admin).

C. Bank Accounts

In this section, you can view the details of all trust bank accounts held by the firm. In this section, you can add new bank accounts (by clicking the plus icon near the top-right corner of the list). You can also click the ellipses icon for each bank account and edit the account details or set up the account's interest rates. For more information, see Managing Trust (or Client) Bank Accounts.

D. Linked System Accounts

This section shows which general ledger accounts have been linked to your trust accounting. This is where you are able to change linked GL accounts if this differs from the default that Actionstep automatically links. For more information, see Viewing System Accounts and About Linked System Accounts in Trust Accounting.

E. Bulk Import Specifications

Using Actionstep, you can upload bulk import receipts as well as payments using options available in the Trust menu. This section shows you specifications you've already created. For more information, see Setting Up Bulk Import Specifications for Trust (or Client) Accounting (Admin).

F. Additional Settings

Options in this section allow you to edit overrides, deposit slips settings, default payment methods, reason for payment, trust statement settings, and trust lock-out date. For more information, see Getting to Know Trust Accounting Administration - Additional Settings Page.
