You can view the parties that are associated with a matter. You can also add new parties to a role as well as remove them.
NOTE: While viewing the Parties tab of a specific matter, party names may appear with a green border. This indicates that custom data has been linked to the participant type and that information has been filled in for the selected party.
Viewing Matter Participants By Party or By Role
You can change how the list of parties is displayed on a matter's Parties page. Specifically, you can view the list either by participant names or by their roles.
To do this:
- In Actionstep, edit a matter. See Editing a Matter for help.
- Click the Parties menu icon. The Parties page appears.
- Click either the View by Role or View by Party button to change the view.
Role ViewTo add more roles, see Creating and Editing a Matter.
Party ViewClick the Add a Role drop-down list to the right of the party name to add an additional role to each party.
Adding a Party to a Role
You can add a new party to a specific matter role.
To do this:
- In Actionstep, edit a matter. See Editing a Matter for help.
- Click the Parties menu icon. The Parties page appears.
- If needed, click the View by Role button to change the view to list the associated parties by their role.
- Find the role you want to add a party to and click its Add drop-down list. For example, to add a party to the Client role, click Add Client.
- Search for and choose the party name you want to add to the role. You can also click Create Contact to create a new contact and add them.
Removing a Party from a Role
You can remove a party from a specific matter role.
To do this:
- In Actionstep, edit a matter. See Editing a Matter for help.
- Click the Parties menu icon. The Parties page appears.
- If needed, click the View by Role button to change the view to list the associated parties by their role.
- Find the role you want to remove the party from.
- Click the View menu icon to the left of the party's name and choose Remove Party from the list of options. The party is removed from that role.
NOTE: Once a trust account is associated with a matter, you cannot remove all trust (client account) participants (usually client). One must be present at all times. The trust participant can be changed by adding the new participant and then removing the old one.
