Editing and Deleting Participant Types

In this article:

Participant types are used to classify groups of people within your different matters and workflows. Actionstep includes a default list of common participant types, but you can also add your own types to accommodate your different scenarios.

At times you may need to edit or delete these participant types.

CAUTION:  By default, there are two base contact types in every system: a COMPANY and INDIVIDUAL participant type. Changing these will affect every contact in your system associated with that base contact type.

Editing Participant Type Details

You can edit the name and description for a participant type, as well as choose whether the type will be associated with company or individual parties (or both).

To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Admin > Additional settings. The Additional Settings page appears.
  2. Click Edit in the Participant types section. The Participant Types page appears.
  3. Click the participant type name you want to edit. The Edit Participant Type window appears.
  4. Make any changes you need. Refer to Creating Participant Types or Editing Participant Custom Data Fields (Admin) for more detailed information about the available options.
  5. When you're finished making changes, click Save

Deleting Participant Types

You can delete participant types.

CAUTION:  You cannot delete a participant type if it is being used.

To do this:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Admin > Additional settings. The Additional Settings page appears.
  2. Click Edit in the Participant types section. The Participant Types page appears.
  3. Click the participant type name you want to delete. The Delete Participant Type window appears.
  4. Select the ID/Participant Name you want to delete.
  5. Enter a Reason for deletion.
  6. Click Delete Selection.
