In this article:
Quick-codes allow you to use pre-set descriptions on tasks, time entries, and invoice payments. They provide a quick way to categorize or tag the type of work you performed.
The code you create appears in the Quick-code drop-down box when creating tasks, time entries, withdrawals, or client receipts. (You can choose which of these areas the code is associated with.) The text entered in the long description will be used to fill in the description or memo fields on those forms. For example:
Creating a Quick-Code
To create a quick code:
- In Actionstep, go to Admin > General Settings. The System Preferences page appears.
- In the Quick-codes section, click Create a quick code. The Quick-Codes window appears.
- Enter the following information:
- Code: Enter the code you want to use for the category.
- Long description: Enter details about the code.
- Where should this quick-code be used: Select the workflows in Actionstep where the quick-code can be used.
Example:
- Click Save to save your changes.
Editing Quick-Codes
You can change quick-codes you've already created.
To do this:
- In Actionstep, go to Admin >General settings. The System Preferences page appears.
- In the Quick-codes section, click the name for the code you want to edit. The Quick-Codes window appears.
- Make any changes you need and click Save when you're finished.
Deleting Quick-Codes
- In Actionstep, go to Admin >General settings. The System Preferences page appears.
- In the Quick-codes section, click the name for the code you want to delete. The Quick-Codes window appears.
- Click Delete. The Delete page appears to confirm your action.
- Enter a Reason for deletion and click Delete Selection.
