Customizing Your Trust Account Templates in Actionstep

Actionstep gives you the flexibility to tailor your trust account templates (e.g., receipts, deposit slips, statements) to your firm's preferences.




Creating and Customizing Templates


To customize your trust account templates:

  1. In Actionstep, go to Admin > Document assembly. The Document Assembly page appears.
  2. Click Manage in the Trust templates section. The Trust Account Templates page appears.
  3. Click New Template. The Create Template page appears.
  4. Click the Template Type drop-down list and choose the type of template you want to customize. 
  5. Click Download built-in [type] templateA copy of the Word document is saved to your computer.
  6. Find and edit the document. You can customize the content, layout, logo, fonts, merge fields, and any other element to match your firm's branding and requirements.
  7. When you're finished, save and close the document.
  8. On the Create Template page in Actionstep (you should already be on this page), click Please select a file for the DOCX File field. 
  9. Select the file you just modified and enter a Template Name and optional Description
  10. Click Save to save the customized template.




Making the Customized Template the Default for Trust Accounting

Once you've uploaded the new template, you can set it as the default in your trust accounting process. 


To do this: 

  1. In Actionstep, go to Admin > Trust Accounting.
  2. In the Bank Accounts section, click the pencil icon next to the trust account you want to update.
  3. In the Document templates section, toggle Use default templates to off
  4. Click the drop-down list for the type of template you customized in the previous section and choose the template you uploaded previously.
  5. Click Save to save your changes. 



NOTES: 
• Merge Fields: Trust account templates use merge fields to dynamically insert information. Be careful not to delete or modify  these fields accidentally.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure your custom templates comply with your local regulations and accounting standards. If unsure, consult with a legal or accounting professional.
