Setting up Accounting in Practice Pro + Accounting

This article explains how to set up your accounting preferences in a Practice Pro + Accounting system. 

If you have a brand new Actionstep System and are planning to use an accounting integration (Xero/QBO), we always recommend choosing the internal Actionstep accounting option in the first instance. 

WARNING - We reccomend always selecting the built-in Actionstep accounting system first
 If you choose to integrate with Xero/Quickbooks before choosing internal Actionstep accounting you will not have all the mapping options available and this cannot be undone - you will need to create a new database.

Setting up Actionstep Accounting before connecting your integration will give you access to the Accounting menu and ensure that you will be able to see the Xero Mapping options. 

The accounting menu will not show under the following circumstances:
  1. If you have upgraded from Practice Pro to Practice Pro + Accounting and were already connected with QB or Xero
  2. You created a new system and chose QB or Xero as your accounting on the first screen as illustrated above. 

 If you choose Xero/QB initially and then want to see the Accounting menu and mapping options, there is unfortunately nothing we can do to revert your accounting option. You will need to create a new system and migrate your data over.
