Actionstep Payments - Automatic Creation of Trust Receipts

Modified on Mon, 21 Aug, 2023 at 7:14 PM

When a payment has been made into trust through Actionstep Payments a trust receipt will automatically be created. This feature eliminates the manual process of creating trust receipts and ensures that the payment page is updated to show the correct balance owed to clients.

This is avaliable for our US Actionstep Customers who have enabled Actionstep Payments.

This feature is currently under a feature flag, to enable this setting you will need to head to Admin > General Settings > Feature Preview > Switch on Automation of Trust Receipts. You will also need to turn this feature on in the payments settings by going to Admin > Actionstep Payments > Account settings > Trust Account > edit> Switch on Automactically create trust receipts.

How it Works

Once a payment has been made, depending on whether the funds were made by credit card or ACH it can take several days before the transaction is processed through Payrix. Once it has been processed, Actionstep will create a deposit record and associate the receipts to that deposit.

Displaying Deposits

  • To view any deposit head to Trust > Receipts > Actionstep Payments Deposits.

  • Each deposit has a link that will take you to the associated trust receipts. - To view the trust receipts click on the circled number under the Linked Receipts column.
  •  You have the ability to change the deposit date if the deposit date on your Trust Bank Statement is different from Actionstep's deposit date. - To do this, go to the linked receipt > click the update button > select the correct date > click update.

Reconciliations

  • Each deposit will have a unique reference number created by Actionstep. It will be displayed on your bank statement and the reconciliation screen, making it easier to reconcile at the end of each month.
