Filing a digital VAT returns from Actionstep (Making Tax Digital)

Modified on Mon, 29 Apr at 12:36 PM

You are able to file digital VAT returns from within Actionstep.  The following video shows you how to configure your system to enable this.

Before filing a VAT return, make sure to check that:

  1. You have signed up for Making Tax Digital on the HMRC website. You should receive a confirmation email from HMRC in 3 working days. Only then should you connect Actionstep with HMRC. See here to find out how to sign up your organisation for Making Tax Digital.
  2. The Company Address and VAT number are correctly registered on HMRC and match the details on Actionstep, as incorrect information will cause an error in Actionstep when submitting a Tax Return.
  3. Your VAT number is entered on your Actionstep Company Contact Record. This must not include any letters, symbols or spaces and must be numerical values only. For example, 'GB 123 4567' must be changed to '1234567' to successfully submit a VAT return.
