Office Online

  • This option will open the document in Office Online (web-based version).
  • Changes that are made to document while it is open in the browser will be saved automatically.
  • Other users can see that the document has been opened by another Actionstep user and can edit the same document.
  • Changes made by both users will appear in real time and can be seen by each other.

Office via OneDrive

  • This option will open the document in the desktop version of Microsoft Office.
  • Changes that are made to the document will not be saved to Actionstep until you are finished, however it will save to your OneDrive account so the risk of loosing your progress is unlikely.
  • When you open the document, it will show as 'Checked out' in Actionstep. This will prevent any other users from opening the same document.

Office via Actionstep plugin

  • Once installed this option will open the document in the desktop version of Microsoft office through the plugin.
  • Changes that are made to the document will not be saved until you click on the save button on the Actionstep tab.

Google Docs

  • This option will open the document in Google Docs (once you have set up the integration) .
  • Google Docs will automatically save changes made to the document only in google docs not to the version in Actionstep.
