Removing Practice Pro Trust Transactions from Xero

Modified on Mon, 4 Aug at 1:22 PM

NOTE:  These instructions apply to Actionstep Practice Pro users.

In this article:

You can keep Actionstep from posting trust transactions to Xero. Invoicing and payments will by synced with Xero, however.

If you choose to complete these steps, please be aware of the following:

  • If you have concerns about archiving these accounts, please speak to your accountant.
  • If you want to delete these accounts, you must remove all transactions associated with them, which may make your invoices appear unpaid since you also need to remove the payments.
  • If you are making payments to firm's interest in trust, your invoices will show as paid in Xero. However, depending on when/how this money is transferred to your business account, you may have difficulty reconciling the business account since those payments must add up to the invoices paid. For more advice regarding this, please contact one of our Certified Consulting Partners or your accountant.

Removing Trust Transactions

To keep Practice Pro from posting trust transactions to Xero:

  1. In Practice Management, go to Admin > Trust Accounting
  2. In the Additional settings section of the page (located at the bottom), click Additional system-wide preferences. The System-wide Trust Accounting Preferences window appears.
  3. In the Xero settings section of the window, toggle Post Trust transactions to Xero to off.
  4. Click Save to save your changes.

Once you have disabled this option, if you want to remove the balances of those trust accounts from Xero and all financial reporting, you can archive any trust-related accounts in Xero. Also, make sure to change the balance sheet date as at today's date to show this removal.
