Tax Return Settings

Modified on Mon, 14 Nov, 2022 at 1:08 AM

This article explains how to set up your tax calculator settings or tax return settings. This is the area of the system where the GST/VAT/Sales Tax is configured to match your local tax jurisdiction.

Available on: NZ/AU/UK systems whose base currency is NZ/AU/UK.

You can change the sales tax alias in your system to match your local jurisdiction by going to the financial alias administration section (left menu).

There are two steps to setting up your system to use a Tax return plugin:

Set the tax return plugin

Firstly set the sales tax return that your system will use. To do this go to Admin > Accounting > Accounting system preferences and scroll down to sales tax calculator (at bottom of screen) and then click on manage tax calculator settings green box.

Another way to get to the same location is by navigating to Admin > Accounting > Tax return settings.

You will already have a plugin already installed (which is based on the sales tax settings that were selected when your system was set-up). There will be one listed item on screen and that should correspond to the tax return needs of your country.

If there is no plugin installed in your system as shown above in the screenshot and your base currency is set to AUD/NZD or GBP please raise a support ticket - Broken Link Article

WARNING: You are unable to set different base currencies or Sales Tax Plug-ins for different divisions.

Entering the settings for your tax return

Now that the plugin is in place, you may want to enter some settings for it. Click on the name of the plug-in.
