Participant types are used to classify groups of people within your different matters and workflows. Actionstep Practice Management includes a default list of common participant types, but you can also add your own types to accommodate your different scenarios.
At times you may need to edit or delete these participant types.
CAUTION: By default, there are two basic types of contacts in every system: a COMPANY and an INDIVIDUAL participant type. Changing this designation will affect every contact in your system.
Editing Participant Type Details
You can edit the name and description for a participant type, as well as choose whether the type will be associated with company or individual parties (or both).
To do this:
- In Practice Management, go to Admin > Additional settings. The Additional Settings page appears.
- Click Edit in the Participant types section. The Participant Types page appears.
- Click the participant type name you want to edit. The Edit Participant Type window appears.
- Make any changes you need. Refer to Creating Participant Types or Editing Participant Custom Data Fields (Admin) for more detailed information about the available options.
- When you're finished making changes, click Save.
Deleting Participant Types
You can delete participant types.
CAUTION: You cannot delete a participant type if it is being used.
To do this:
- In Practice Management, go to Admin > Additional settings. The Additional Settings page appears.
- Click Edit in the Participant types section. The Participant Types page appears.
- Click the participant type name you want to delete. The Edit Participant Type window appears.
- Click Delete. The Delete Participant Type window appears.
- Select the ID/Participant Name you want to delete.
- Enter a Reason for deletion.
- Click Delete Selection.
