The Builder Word Designer gives you the tools to automate your Microsoft Word template. It includes options for opening or creating new templates, inserting variables directly into your template, and launching the Online Workspace.
Before you begin:
- Install the Word add-in. See Setting Up Actionstep's Builder (Admin) for help.
To launch the Word Designer:
- Open a blank Microsoft Word document.
- Click the Builder tab.
- Click Sign In.
The Word Designer pane appears on the right side of the Word window. - If needed, click Sign in with Microsoft and enter any requested credentials.
- When the list of next steps appears, choose from the following options:
- Choose an existing template to edit. See Editing a Builder Template File for help.
- Create a new template. See Creating a New Builder Template for help.
- Go to the online Designer. See Getting to Know Builder's Online Workspace for help.
NOTE: Once you create a template and it has been added to Builder, the template actually resides in Builder. This means that to edit the Builder template, you must open it and save it using the options available on the Builder ribbon. Additionally, you can save a copy of the template to your hard drive, but as you work in it, it must be synced to Builder. You can know it's synced by looking at the template name in the Word Designer pane:
