Tasks Group by Tag Report

Brief Description  

The Tasks Group by Tag report displays a list of all tasks for which a specific tag has been assigned. The report indicates whether the resulting time entry from the task has been billed and for how many hours.    




Use Cases 

This report is useful for seeing the time spent and billed for tasks of a specific tag or category. To learn more about using tags (which make this report highly relevant), see Working with Tags (Admin).




Finding and Using the Report

  • In Actionstep, go to Reports > Matter Reports > Matter Financial.

Available Filters

  • Matter: Choose the matter or matters you want included in the report. (Enter text or the matter ID in the field at the bottom of the box.)   
  • View Type: Indicates the file format (PDF) the report will be saved in.   




Report Output

In the generated report, the Invoiced and Uninvoiced columns refer to the hours entered in the time entry that is created when the task is completed. This is an optional feature for tasks. If a time entry is not created, no time will be reflected in those columns.   


The Tag-Summary Table displays summed information for all tags used for tasks in the selected matters.   

  • Tag: Shows the name of the tag used for tasks in the selected matters.   
  • Invoiced: Shows the number of hours invoiced for time entries resulting from tasks with the corresponding task.
  • Uninvoiced: Shows the number of hours that have not been invoiced for time entries resulting from tasks with the corresponding task.
  • Total: The total hours for time entries resulting from tasks with the corresponding tag for the selected matters.
  • Totals: The Invoiced, Uninvoiced, and Total columns at the bottom of the table show the sums of each of these columns.


The Individual Tag Table displays information specific to that tag.    

  • ID: Shows the task ID.   
  • Task: Shows the name of the task.
  • Assigned to: Shows who the task is assigned to.
  • Completed: Shows the date the task was completed. This may be blank if the task is not yet completed.
  • Invoiced: Shows the number of hours invoiced from the time entry resulting from the associated task.
  • Uninvoiced: Shows the number of hours yet to be invoiced from the time entry resulting from the associated task.
  • Total: Shows the total hours for time entries resulting from the associated task.
  • Totals: The Invoiced, Uninvoiced, and Total columns at the bottom of the table show the sums of each of these columns.
