SMS Alerts Setup

Actionstep's SMS function allows users to send one-direction SMS messages to any party and has the ability to send reminders of calendar appointments to your clients.

This article will explain how to set up SMS alerts.


Enabling SMS Alerts


To begin set up, navigate to Admin > Email & SMS


Select SMS Alerts

Enable SMS by toggling the Enable SMS toggle to On.

The subscription increase and additional pricing information will be different in various regions. To agree to the pricing select the I accept the changes to my subscription checkbox.


If you only want to allow users to send SMS out of Actionstep, click Save. If you want to also configure SMS reminders for clients calendar appointments, read below.


Enable SMS for calendar appointments by toggling the Enable SMS toggle to on. Turning on the toggle reveals further settings.


Client Calendar Appointment Settings:


Limit to matter party types: This dictates which party on the matter can receive messages.

  • Client - The client participant on the matter.
  • Primary Participant - The contact in the roles that has been specified as the primary participant on the matter.

Send to Actionstep users: This dictates whether Actionstep users will receive SMS reminders when they occupy the specified party type in the matter.


Once you have enabled all of your settings click Save.
