Implementing Modern Authentication Calendar Workaround

Modified on Tue, 21 Feb 2023 at 02:47 PM

Some users are routinely encountering a 503 error or a "dead sync" when syncing their Outlook calendars via Modern Authentication (Microsoft's recently released security upgrade). We have identified an error within Microsoft's API causing these issues and have notified them.

In the meantime we have created a workaround for those users who have been unable to sync their calendars successfully.

A system admin needs to go to Admin > General Settings > Scroll down and under Feature in Preview enable MS Graph Calendar 503 fix.

Once this is enabled for your Actionstep system users who have not been able to connect their calendars will be able to do so.

Please note the following limitations:

  • For users who have trouble connecting the calendar will reflect one month in the past and one month into the future. This will have no effect on users who have no issues connecting.
  • Once older appointments are out of the one month in the past time frame, they are deleted from Actionstep.
  • Each time the calendar is accessed it will resync again.

We are currently in conversation with Microsoft and are optimistic about a permanent fix coming down the road!
