The information in this article applies to Acumen, a Practice Management add-on that provides enhanced reporting dashboards for your firm. To learn more, please contact your customer success manager or your account representative.

This product is currently in early access.

To access the Firm Management dashboard:

  1. In Practice Management, go to Insights > Business Intelligence. The Insights page is displayed.
  2. Select Firm Management from the list of options on the left side of the page. The Firm Management Dashboard is displayed.

The Billable Hours vs. Budget chart tracks your firm’s actual billable hours against the budgeted target for each month. It helps you quickly see where performance is meeting, exceeding, or falling short of expectations. By comparing actual billable hours with budgeted hours, you can identify trends in productivity, evaluate resource utilization, and make informed decisions to optimize staffing and workload management.

Note: KPI and actual figures are pulled from the KPI setup, which you can access by going to Accounting > Accounts > KPIs. Only those staff with the Bill checkbox selected will be included. If their Bill Hrs is 0 for the month, the KPI target is also 0 hours.

Hover over a specific point on the graph to view details about the actual vs. budgeted hours.

Click the chart to view the Billable Hours vs. Budget Report for a detailed breakdown of this information.

  • Fee Earner: Shows the name of fee earner, or the portion of the invoice allocated to the fee earner.
  • Budgeted Billable Hours: Shows the target attributed to the fee earner. You can review this number by going to Accounting > Accounts > KPI.
  • Actual Billable Hours: Shows the billable hours recorded by the fee earner for the month. This includes all time entries that are marked as billable but excludes non-billable time recorded during the time period. This information is recorded when you create a time entry.
