Top Matters: Firm Management Dashboard

The information in this article applies to Acumen, a Practice Management add-on that provides enhanced reporting dashboards for your firm. To learn more, please contact your customer success manager or your account representative.

To access the Firm Management dashboard:

  1. In Practice Management, go to Insights > Business Intelligence. The Insights page is displayed.
  2. Select Firm Management from the list of options on the left side of the page. The Firm Management Dashboard is displayed. 

 

The Top Matters table on the Firm Management dashboard highlights the matters generating the highest levels of collected revenue within the selected period. It allows you to quickly identify which matters are contributing most to firm cashflow and financial performance.

The table is sorted by Collected Fees, ensuring that the most valuable and cash-productive matters appear at the top.

Top Matters Report Details

In this report, each matter appears on its own individual row. It includes the following information:

Note: Draft and deleted invoices are not included, nor are write-offs or credits. This report only filters Total Billed & Collected columns. Total Draft WIP still reflects WIP on draft invoices.

  • Matter ID: Shows the matter ID.
  • Matter Name: Shows the name of the matter.
  • Client Name: Shows the name or names of the clients (or primary participants) associated with the matter.
  • Matter Type: Shows the matter type.
  • Responsible Lawyer: Shows the name of the person who is responsible for the overall outcome of the case. (See Understanding the 'Responsible Lawyer' Role in Actionstep Billing to learn more.)
  • Fee Earner: Shows the name or names of the fee earners.
  • Matter Status: Shows the status of the matter: active, inactive, or closed.
  • Total WIP: Shows the total amount of work in progress (fees only).
  • WIP Fees: Shows WIP fees currently on draft invoices for the matter.
  • Draft WIP: Shows the total amount of the WIP (draft invoice - fees only).
  • Billed Fees: Shows the total amount billed (fees only).
  • Collected Fees: Shows the total amount of collected (fees only). You can review this allocation by viewing the Receipt Fee Allocation window (which you can find by going to Create > Client Receipt and clicking the edit icon next to a specific invoice).
