Filtering Firm Management Dashboard Data

The information in this article applies to Acumen, a Practice Management add-on that provides enhanced reporting dashboards for your firm. To learn more, please contact your customer success manager or your account representative.

This product is currently in early access.

When working with any of the Firm Insights dashboards, you can filter the information that is displayed throughout the different charts and graphs on the dashboard. As you apply a filter, the data you are viewing in the dashboard is automatically updated.

To do this:

  1. In Practice Management, go to Insights > Business Intelligence. The Business Intelligence page is displayed.
  2. On the left side of the page, click Firm Management. The Firm Management dashboard is displayed.
  3. In the Controls section, click the expand icon (right side of the panel) to show all available filters:
    • Date range: Using the options available, choose the start and end date for the data you want to view.
      • Fiscal Year: If a fiscal year is specified, the data is compared to the previous year. (Example: Billed Fees 2025 vs. Billed Fees 2026)
      • Fiscal Period: If the current month is selected, the current data is compared to the previous month. (Example: Billed Fees 2025 vs. Billed Fees 2026)
    • Matter Type: Choose one or more matter types you want covered in the dashboard.
    • Responsible lawyer: Select one or more responsible lawyers you want included in the report.
    • Fee earner: Choose one or more fee earners you want covered in the dashboard. A fee earner is a user who directly generates income for the firm by billing clients for their time and services.
    • Client: Choose the client(s) you want covered in the dashboard. This filter will be ignored for the following charts: Top Fee Earners, Billed Fees vs. Budget, Actual Hours vs. Budget, and Utilization.
    • Division: (If available) Choose which division you want to show in the dashboard. This will look at only activities in the selected division. If you are not using divisions in Actionstep, the only option will be your company.
