Setting up portal access via the Action Type
Client portal permissions are configured by action type. This means that each of your action types can have unique permissions relating to which participants have access and the folders available to them.
To configure portal access go to Admin>Workflow>Action Types>*select an action type*>Portal
First, choose which role on the matter should have access then select the folder that you would like them to have access to.
There are 5 types of permissions relating to the client portal
Permission Name | Description |
Can Read | Allows users to view and download documents |
Can Create | Allows the user to upload documents to the specified folder |
Can Delete | Allows the user to delete documents to the specified folder |
Can Update | Allows the user to replace an existing document in the specified folder. |
Can List | Allows the user to view the documents in the specified folder. This permission must be enabled in order to use permissions like "Can Read" and "Can Update" |
Granting portal access through the matter
Step 1: Add the participant to the matter
Permissions relating to the client portal will be granted to certain participant types in an Action type. Before a portal invitation can be sent to a participant they must occupy a role on the matter which has been granted portal permissions.
Once the participant has been added you can navigate to the portal screen to send an invite. You will find the portal icon on the right side of the matter overview menu.
Select the tab along the left side of the screen which corresponds to the participant that you are granting access to (there may be multiple) and then select the check box next to the role their role. The email address field should prepopulate with the address. If this field is empty or the address is not correct you can manually edit it before sending out the portal invitation. Selecting "Save" will send a portal invitation to the associated party.
